The nature of the camp

Butterfly Glide is a quiet and expansive space at the far end of the woods. It is ideal for families, friends, and small retreats who want the whole section of the forest to themselves. The site is set apart from all other camps: a tranquil open glade at the far end of the woods.

At one side stands a large A-frame wooden shelter, with bench seating around, and a place for cooking and, should it rain, to take shelter.

A short walk away is Gathering Circle, with a central firepit and a space ringed by tree trunk benches.There are hammocks to swing in and you can shape the area to suit your gathering: a feast, a ritual, or a night of music around the flames. Bring bunting and musical instruments (but no amplified music)

Nearby there is a stream that runs into a magnificent valley which is a cathedral of beech trees.

The space is best-suited to day gatherings.

Getting there

This camp is a walk-to camp unless you have an off-road vehicle. Don’t worry. Park up in our woodyard. We will drive your kit up to the camp while you enjoy an easy stroll through the woods. The camping manager will be on hand for portering to and fro during your stay.

Pricing

Base camp fee + attendee

Base Camp: £400

We charge a flat fee for the use of the camp, which covers Friday from midday through to Sunday midday. This includes 5 acres of private space, firewood and charcoal, a grill and basic cookware, water, help with set-up and an on-call manager for your group.

Attendees: £25 per attendee

£25 per adult. Children up to 18 are £12.50. This covers parking and portering. We can accept up to 50 people as day visitors. Camping is limited to 12 people.

To Book

1. Check availability on our calendar. The Friday 12pm slot is a booking for the whole weekend, giving you time to set up and take down.

3. Reserve by paying the Base Camp fee via our calendar

4. Guests can either pay as they arrive or you can pay up front.
