The nature of the camp

This is the camp to book if you have a camper van, a rooftent, or an overland vehicle. Tucked into a private grove of wild cherry trees, Dakota is designed specifically for those who want to drive deep into the ancient woodland and park up in total seclusion. No wheelbarrows, no kit-carrying—just pull in, pop the top, and relax.

The site takes its name from a specialized fire-pit that once sat at its heart, and while the original pit is gone, the spirit of high-efficiency, open-air living remains. Today, Dakota features a sturdy central fire-pit with heavy-duty grills and a hand-built timber shelter. The spacing of the cherry trees also makes this arguably the best spot in the woods for slinging a few hammocks.

It is perfectly suited for a single family or a couple of friends with two vans looking for a private, level base to explore the Cotswolds.

Getting there

Dakota is a drive-to camp with space for two vehicles to park directly on-site. Because you have your kit with you, there is no need for portering—simply enjoy the drive through the trees, park up, and start the fire.

Pricing

Base camp price + attendee fee

Base Camp: £160 We charge a flat fee for the use of the camp over a weekend. This includes 1.5 acres of private space, unlimited firewood and charcoal, and the convenience of direct vehicle access.

Attendees: £25 per attendee £25 per adult total for the whole weekend. Children up to 18 are £12.50. This covers the use of the site and access to the wider woods. There is a maximum of 4 adults total.
